New NYS Requirements for Meningococcal Vaccination

Beginning in September 2016, all public, private and parochial students entering 7th  and 12th grade in New York State must be vaccinated against Meningococcal Disease.  This bacterial infection is uncommon (largely due to vaccination) but can result in severe illness, meningitis and death.. The complete adolescent meningococcal vaccine series includes a first dose at 11 or 12 years of age and a booster dose on or after the 16th birthday.

At Pediatric Associates, we have been vaccinating our patients against Meningococcal disease according to the recommended schedule for many years.  When your adolescent comes in for their well child visit this year, we will make sure that he or she is up to date on this vaccine and will provide documentation for your school on their physical form.
