OUR LATEST NEWS & IMPORTANT CHILD HEALTH CARE UPDATES
Rapid COVID testing for both symptomatic and asymptomatic children is currently available in our office. A sample for the test is obtained by nasal swab (which is much less uncomfortable than the deeper nasopharyngeal swab tests) and results are available in less than 15 minutes. The test is a PCR test that is currently accepted by all local school districts for documentation and return to school. Call for an appointment. Camillus: (315) 487-1541 and Liverpool: (315) 652-1070
We currently do not have COVID vaccines in our office but will keep you notified if this changes in the future. For now, if you have a teen, age 16 or older, and think they qualify to be immunized under the current guidelines, you can visit the NYS COVID Vaccine Website to determine eligibility and potentially schedule a vaccine. Our Recommendations In accordance with the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics, we recommend that adolescents (age 16-17 years) who are included in the prioritized groups should receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
Also, COVID-19 vaccines should be offered to lactating individuals the same as non-lactating individuals if they meet the criteria of a prioritized group. A lactating individual may continue nursing after receiving the vaccine. Please read these AAP Guidelines for further information. |
